Deep Dish Sunday Night

I've been thinking about learing lines -
The thing to do when you're at home learning your lines...whether it's for a monologue or a scene, is to learn the lines by rote.

Just like you're memorizing the fifty states or the states and capitals. And then when someone asks you to say all fifty, you just rattle them off. There's no inflection, no meaning behind the words you're saying, just the words. Like reading the phone book....

There's actually a fun exercise to do with your lines where you say your lines in all kinds of crazy inflections, your pitch going up and down in places that it wouldn't normally go up and down...this is all to help you not get in a rut with the way the lines are said in performance or rehearsal.

Remember - no class this coming Sunday, the 22nd.
Work on your short scenes and your monologues.

The Exonerated opens on October 26th at Deep Dish.
It's going to be a terrific show and if you plan on seeing, get tickets now!
For more information, go to the Deep Dish website

Hey gang!

Just a quick note that we'll not be able to meet on the 22nd at the theater. The next show, The Exonerated, will be in tech that weekend and is scheduled for rehearsal that night until 10:00.

If anyone knows of an alternative space where we can meet, we can move the class there.

Otherwise, we'll need to re-schedule. We can either find alternative date around the 22nd or add one more Sunday night at the end.

Let's talk Sunday night about possible alternatives.

Hey gang!
I realized that we totally forgot to do the entrance exercise with Leanne, Laura and Anne.
We will do them this Sunday. So, come prepared!

Also, we'll be starting to do lots of different things in class, depending on where each of you are in preparation, if you're scene partner is in class or not, etc. So, keep working on your short scenes and start your work on your monologue. If you know that your partner will not be at class, come prepared to work on your monologue.

If you have any questions, let me know!
